I did a quick search but didn’t see this addressed. I know that MT majors go to auditions armed with headshots, but is that also true for music/music ed majors? Thanks!
My D did not need one for undergrad but does for grad school. If needed it would most likely be stated in the audition protocol.
Thanks! My D is a junior, so I’m just thinking ahead! I haven’t seen it in the admissions information I’ve looked at, but I haven’t studied the info for all the schools she may apply to.
If I’m remembering correctly, only one school asked us for one during the application process—and this may have been optional. Can’t recall. When we did D’s senior pictures, we brought along her instrument and the clothing she wore in Prescreen videos. Figured it wouldn’t hurt to get some headshot-type photos while we were at at! ?
My S needed one for two schools – my guess is they were attached to the applications so the panel could remember who was who! We had a quick local one done and it worked out fine. He used it again as a freshman since the studio members are all listed on the school website, but it’s looking a bit dated so he may do another one in the spring.
My D needed one for one school. She submitted it with her application. We just used a headshot they took during her senior photos.
A friend can take one with an IPhone, honestly
