I am a current Duke Undergraduate studying Biological Anthropology and Anatomy and Cultural Anthropology. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I'll do my best to answer them.

btw. this lax scandal is horrible. Please do not think that those incorrigible, idiotic, arrogant, idiots are representative of Duke University.

I heard many duke students are actually supporting the lacrosse team, someone yelled "the lacrosse team is innocent" from a window during an on-campus march. what's really going on down there?

If the Laxmen were wearing your colors and playing for Duke they are representing you......but I understand what you are trying to say. I am sure things are in a buzz or in the bizz. All over the press. Where exactly are they parking the satellite trucks? Does it just look like another basketball game or is it lesser in number????

^
I can answer that one. The trucks are usually parked next to Few Quad, near the bus stop. Sometimes they park near the chapel, like they did the night of the NCAA championship game.

I think we've got more Dukies than prospies on here. :p

This is a really touchy subject -- I had several things typed out that I really want to say, but decided not to post them. I'll leave it at the following:

Its a complicated issue and everyone has a slightly different view of it. There are conversations about it almost everyday on my hallway, some heated some chilled, but the consensus is that the truth is the important thing. As far as campus wide activity, some people are simply more vocal about their beliefs than others.

"I heard many duke students are actually supporting the lacrosse team, someone yelled "the lacrosse team is innocent" from a window during an on-campus march. what's really going on down there?"

Well if they are supporting the lacrosse team to an extent that doesnt mean they in ANY way support their alleged actions. The thing is that they are just that, alleged, and in America with due process it is always innocent till proven guilty. It annoys me how in any scandal the press crucifies those implicated in the crime as if they have already been convicted.

This said, it is still a horrible situation and I hope that if the students involved are found guilty they are prosecuted to the full extent. Still, this event speaks of only a small contingent of the campus and may, in the long run, actually lead to more awareness on campuses throughout the country.

By truth do students mean due process.....let the evidence come forth or do they mean that until they think they know what happened???? I mean in court truth usually implies burden of proof.....which is on the prosecution.
