Hello Class of 2010 or people thinking about it!

well if your from a relatively mild region like Rochester, it hasn't broken 100 in over two years.

but the humidity here is rediculous sometimes. At 88 degrees, everytime you step out, you feel like you need to take another shower.

Sadly, the dorms amplify everything like a green house. Plus once moisture gets into the dorms, it stays humad until it drops below 70. Makes it quite difficult to sleep.

By the looks of the weather, we're due to have a indian summer (summer like weather pushing into october).

It rains quite frequently in the summer as well. USually. Lately we've had a slight drought in summers

there's no AC in the dorms? what about heat? i understand the school was built in 1830 or w/e, but those are the necessities...

Oh plenty of heat. All hte rooms are comfortably heated in the winter. Depending on your hall and how many personal complaints to the building management, the temperture in rooms range from 65 degrees to 75 degrees.

My hall was particularly warm becuase I believe someone requested a higher temperature and my window was almost always open (to some degree) to drop it from 75 to 68 because I don't really like it that warm.

But plenty of heat.

But AC, to the school, is unneccesary because nothing exceeds tolerance levels in rochester during the year. Indian summers get hot, but they don't hit above 100 usually. And with a fan usually you can bring it down to a tolerable level. Especially if you open the door and let the air circulate.

when will we declare our major?

second semester sophomore year, i believe? or beginning of junior year.

Officially you declare your major second semester S'more year. But like everything at hte UR, they're pretty flexible.

The important thing why they ask you to declare a major by then is because you'll be hard pressed to fulfill major requirements if you didn't choose by then.
