Help a confused sophmore

Okay, so lately I have been reading a bunch of threads on ethnicity and have read mixed opinions on how much it matters or not. Now I'm Albanian, and was born there( it's a small country in Europe, in case you didnt know.) I know that I am caucasian, but will it help to play the ethnicity card since it is a little known country in some cases and a minority? I've been told it definitely will, but i'd like some second opinions.

There are countless ethnicities in the world and in the US, but the only ethnicity considered a URM for college admissions is Hispanic.

URM means underrepresented in college compared to representation in the US population as a whole

Your ethnicity, while it is rare in college, is also rare in the US population, so there is no differential between the two.

Compare this to Hispanics, their representation in the US population is significantly higher than their representation in college.

I will add, your ethnicity may make a good essay or come into play in other parts of your application, but my point is that you will not be considered a URM for admissions purposes.

Thanks, that’s useful! I think I will probably end up applying it to an essay or something like that.
