Help a homeschooler contemplating college app recs!

As some of you may know, I’ve been homeschooled all along but I’ve taken my lab science courses and some of my math courses at a CC. By the time I apply to college (this fall), I’ll have several professors who know me well and would be delighted to write recs for me. The only problem is that these folks are ALL science teachers. Aside from the fact that one or two of the colleges I’m considering request that you submit recs from teachers of different subject areas, I’m a little concerned that even having one rec from a science prof and one from a math prof (not that I know any of the math folks super-well) will present an unbalanced view of me in the sense that colleges may not receive an objective point of view of me from someone in the humanities/social sciences. While science is my passion, it isn’t my life. I teach a Shakespeare class. I’m writing a book (trying, at least). I sing in a choir. I’ve done volunteer work with Russian orphans and at the library. In other words, I’m academically/socially multifaceted, but I don’t have any “outside” teacher/professor to back up these qualities.

I’m a little anxious about this, so I’d appreciate your suggestions on recs. Feel free to ask further questions for clarification.

bump!!!!! :)

Admissions are pretty savy with home-schoolers and will modify their requirements somewhat. If you can't get academis recs try getting recs from people that know you (Clergy, political organization, employer). Also get the main parent involved to write a non- bragging letter describing your reason to home school and your strengths. Have a book list submitted and a transcript (course desription) as well. Check out Stanfords web site for their requirements for home-schoolers. Also Yahoo group hs2coll where many parents post who have been successfull in getting their students into some elite schools.
