ok so apprently you can use 2007 tax returns, but then you have to revise it apprently??? like when do you revise it? do you have to revise it? like if you send in 2007 will they give you a response regardless or do you have to wait?

also when you find out about fafsa do you have to like send the results to the schools your applying to?

thank you so much for your help!

First of all, you should be trying to get the best estimate you can. Use the income info from 2008 - you can use the last paystub for the year to get necessary info. Enter the estimates now, then go online to make changes once your parents' taxes are complete. If the changes are large, your aid award may also change - that is why a good estimate is wise. Remember to look at 2008 tax tables (use the IRS website) to get the correct amount of tax owed. If you put the taxes from the last paystub, they may be too high.

When you complete the FAFSA, you will also enter school codes for the schools you want it sent to. The info is automatically sent to the schools when you enter the codes. If you need to add schools later, you can do that.

Your family should complete their 2008 taxes as soon as possible after February 1 (which is when most folks have all of their w-2, 1099, 1098, and other information needed to complete their taxes). Get those 2008 taxes DONE...this is not the year to complete your taxes in April.

When you complete the FAFSA using estimates you will use a "will file" status meaning that you will file your taxes but haven't yet done so. IF your school gives you a financial aid package based on your ESTIMATED (will file) FAFSA, your financial aid award will be an ESTIMATED one and will not be finalized until you have amended the FAFSA to reflect 2008 tax returns and change the filing status to "filed".
