The internships to DC and the UN sound great but how competitive is it to get one? Is it a 1 in 20 or 1 in 100 chance? Is D romanticizing Oxy because of internship possibilities that are actually quite difficult to attain? This is a huge decision that could turn on reality.

I find it hard to believe that Oxy would set themselves up by eventually disappointing many of their students.

What does an internship to DC or the UN mean? What do the kids actually do? Are they shuffling papers and getting coffee or ....?

"Program Structure: Students take two academic classes, work thirty-four hours a week at selected internships at the Secretariat, the US Mission to the United Nations, non- governmental organization or other related organizations, and research an independent study project related to the internship. Internships are not available in Legal Affairs, UNDP or UNICEF."

It says approximately 16 students, so I would imagine probably like a 1/2 or a 1/3 chance of getting it. If you have a gpa above 3.5 at the time, you would probably be a shoe-in.
