I realized when reviewing my application that I accidentally reported an extra year of an honor that I recieved twice. I have already been deferred by one of my EA schools and submitted 4 EA apps total. Should I email them even though they probably already reviewed my app? Or risk it? Help! it was an accident!
No. At this time the teams are knee deep. But I would ask this in the “ask the dean” thread. She is the super expert on these matters. @Sally_Rubenstone
@SkNoVa -Chances are good that I’ll advise you to let this go. It sounds like no big deal but I can’t say for sure until you tell me exactly what honor you received (and when) and what you wrote on your application by mistake. So fill me in on that
What you can also do, once school resumes again, is to tell your guidance counselor about this little error because he or she will be sending a “Mid-Year Report” to all of your colleges toward the end of January. So your counselor can add a brief explanation to this report, along the lines of “SkNoVa [which is probably not your real name
) wants you to know that listing 3 years of [whatever honor it was] on the application was an honest mistake. This honor was awarded just sophomore and junior years [or whatever the truth is].”
This is nothing to lose any sleep about, but do give me additional details so that maybe I will have more to add.
Thank you Sally.
