I am currently a sophomore and I want to know if I am taking the right classes to get into a good college or if I should be challenging myself more. I want to get in to a UC university, especially UCLA. I have done pretty well in school, mostly getting A’s and occassional B’s. Here are the classes I have taken and plan to take.

If you are getting good grades in those classes then you should be fine! However, UCLA does stress on extracurricular activities. Make sure to commit to a few and maybe get a leadership position in one of them as well. Try to highlight your strengths as well, since it appears that you like science (?), maybe join science olympiad or volunteer at the hospital.

The University of California system judges GPA solely on 10-11 grades. The grades that you receive this year and next year are given the most, if not all, weight. In addition, you must meet the A-G requirements to even be considered. After a quick look on your schedule, the only thing that I am not sure about is your Honors Humanities - is that an English course? My school never offered such a course so I am not sure. If it is not considered an English language course, you must work on passing the ACT with a 30 on the English section - it will fulfill the requirement. Here is the A-G info page: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/requirements/a-g-requirements/
