I know this thread has been discussed too many times...But I still need some more advises on it (>___<)

I'm a cc transfer student. I've been admitted to the College of L&S in UC Berkeley. So my major is undeclared and I need to apply for the econ major and take some prerequisite courses. It's pre-major too in UCLA. The question is, which school has more and harder prerequisites?

The most important thing I consider is which school is HARDER? In which school will I likely get a higher gpa?
I know I need to study really hard in both schools, but a high gpa is so important no matter for recruiting or getting into a graduate school. I'm not a super smart student with super excellent academic performance so I 'm super worried about my future gpa :( :( :(

Which school will give me better employment opportunities?

Plz help me!! Anything you can respond about these two schools would be great! Thank you very much!

Go on the university’s websites and do your own homework. You can look at what prereqs you need for your degree.

Berkeley will be more challenging. Most students at both schools are intelligent, but I believe Berk is more competitive. Don’t let that undermine UCLA… it’ll be challenging.

Again, do your homework. I know berkeley publishes their student’s employment/grad schools. Honestly, it depends on what exactly you want to do…? finance/acct/marketing/etc

My opinion is to take a look at both schools and see where you really “fit”. Berkeley is very prestigious and UCLA is such a great school. In the end, it’s only 2 years of your life so pick where you think you could see yourself really enjoying yourself, and killing yourself studying.

Dude… I am in the same shoe as you
UCLA Biz econ or UCB econ
I posted a thread earlier… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1504253-ucb-vs-ucla-economics.html
People seem to prefer LA, but I’m actually leaning a bit towards Berkeley, just because of it’s prestige.

Hi Kokimail :)exactly the same situation… I’ve researched a lot of stuff about these two schools, most people just consider Berkeley as the “better” one (yes, because of it’s presitge)
I’m an international student, I don’t need to think about which is closer to my home or which is cheaper…but it makes the dilemma even more difficult

My son is a biz econ major at UCLA. He chose UCLA because he feels happier there :)

One of my friend is an international student and pretty much in the same boat as us and he chose Berkeley in a heart beat. That may be because internationally Berkeley has a definite name recognition compared to UCLA.
For your question #2, You have to keep in mind that UCLA has a quarter system and from all the LA transfer that I’ve known, they all struggled for adjustment. But yet again I’ve heard of cut-throat competitiveness at Berkeley so I don’t have a definite answer lol
Did you visit both campuses?
