Help Choosing A School!

I have completed my associates degree at my local community college. I applied to a few schools and got into the follow ones: St Johns University, CUNY City College and possibly Manhattan College. I am going for my Bachelors in Biology because I want to do pre-med. Does anyone know which school would be best? Does going to a more prestigious/expensive school increase my chances of getting into pre-med? Is it based on which school has a better science program? I've heard city college has a great science program. St.Johns and Manhattan are known more for their Pharmaceutical and Engineering programs respectively.

Can you guys please help me decide on which school to choose? I feel really pressured and I'm not sure if I should take out loans for these schools unless it's going to pay off. Help!

Just so you know, a major in Biology is completely different (and unrelated) to being pre-med. You can major in whatever you want - my suggestion is to go with your favorite subject, as that is the one you will excel at and have the best experience with.

Whichever one you feel most comfortable with. Do you prefer the location of one? Are there significantly better opportunities at one? Do you get along best with students of one? Etc.

Assuming you mean “getting into med school”, absolutely not. It’s not the school you go to - it’s what you do there.

Honestly, if money is the biggest issue for you, just go to whichever school is the least expensive (as long as they offer the courses you need). If you plan to go to medical school, there’s no use in getting into a lot of debt before you even start.

Yeah Medwell, I realize i can pick any major i want and still do premed but i like biology i think. I haven’t taken many biology related classes exactly but the subject interests me. I took anatomy and it was a really fun class. One other choice would of been psychology but: 1. I think it would be harder to find a job with a bachelors in psychology 2. I’d need to take even more classes to fulfill requirements for psych + premed.

As far as I have heard City College is the best bang for your buck pre-med option. St. John’s is more Pharm friendly. I would go to City, I like their pre-med program and environment a bit better than st. johns and I haven’t really heard anything about manhattan.
