^^ Yes, depending on when the application deadlines are.

Scout…you may be thinking of FAFSA filings

Scout…yes, each school will have different deadlines for the filing of financial aid paperwork. You need to check EACH school for their deadlines…they vary considerably.

Also…most folks filing the Profile now are doing so to meet a priority deadline for a number of reasons…could be an EA or ED application…could be a competitive scholarship program with an early application deadline.

BUT to be sure of your deadlines…CHECK FOR DEADLINES on each school website.

I don’t really have a response except good luck.

CSS Profile is a pain in the ass for kids of divorce parents.

Tuition Exchange deadlines have generally not past. There are some very fine colleges listed, but Stanford is not one. Most are not of the Stanford caliber. These are competitive scholarships, not automatic entitlements for dependents of certain College and University employees.

Check out TuitionExchange.org

re: tuition exchange. Typically kids apply for this in the fall. At several colleges where we know professors and staff…the kids apply for the TE program well before they apply to colleges. This may vary from school to school. Again…check.

Even without TE, he may want the OP to attend the college where he teaches. He may have generous benefits there and be unwilling to contribute to another college. If I were the OP, I would explore this option. It may not be the first choice, but it may be a way to get a degree with little debt.

^^^

True, but it doesn’t seem as though the dad has suggested this. Maybe he lives in another state, so there would be other costs (room and board), and the dad (and perhaps new wife) doesn’t want to pay for that or have the boy to live with them while he’s in school.

Just thoughts.

mom2collegekids, Maybe the dad hasn’t suggested it-- or maybe the OP really, really wants to give Stanford a shot and not have to go to dad’s college (which may fall far short of Stanford).

Even if dad hasn’t brought it up, I think it’s worth exploring. Room and board could be paid for with a loan, a summer job and a workstudy.

Hi guys,

Thanks for everything. I’m going to Berkeley and they’re paying for everything. They’re even reimbursing me for books and personal costs. All is right. :)

-Victor

^^^^ Congratulations!

Wishing you much success in all your future endeavors.
