Hey, I’m a high school student in AP chem, I have a 90.
I really want to major in chemistry but I’m not a genius and idk how well i’ll do in college as a chem major since I want to maintain a good GPA in college. I’m not that strong in math but I love chemistry so much. Is everyone who is a chem major super smart/great in math? Will I be able to handle it?
Most programs will require at least up through multivariate calculus. There is probably also some linear algebra and possibly differential equations Chem does have quite a bit of math in it, especially higher level classes like physical chem. Then again, other fields don’t deal with a lot of math, like your basic orgo classes. But you still have time to work on math skills so don’t rule it completely out if you are truly interested in the subject.
what colleges are you interested in? look up the chemistry major and check out the requirements and you’ll see what classes you have to take for the major. You can even look at the syllabi of those classes and see if you can handle it. If you’re interested in chem go for it
