I made only one mistake on my Harvard common application essay- one HUGE MISTAKE!!
instead of spelling Shakespeare i wrote Shakespere w/o an A!!!
I wasn't being arrogant by writing about Shakespeare because I have done a lot of reading and research for literature! :(

I don't know how it happened!
Since this is not a simple grammatical error, but something really important, should I contact the school?

thanks

omg i think u shud!

My friend mispelled “I” instead of “i” without capital form in his harvard essay last year and he got flat-out REJECTED.

-.-

You created an account just to ask this? LOL!

BTW, you can’t do anything about it, so there’s no point in stressing.

Actually, Shakespere is an acceptable way of spelling the Big Man’s name. There is no definitive spelling.

One of the teachers who wrote me a recommendation accidentally wrote she instead of he (more than once) but I didn’t find out until well over a month after I had hit Send. I was accepted. Don’t worry, errors happen.

Definitely, you have no chance now of getting into Harvard. The admissions officers go out of their way to choose applicants who’ll eventually be the best copy editors in the world, something that Harvard is known for producing.

Prepare to go to community college.

You can trust me about this. I’m a Harvard grad, and I never make copy editing erors.

Your chances of getting in Harvard are basically 0% now. Too bad :(

nobody seems to sense the sarcasm. lol.

I hope you don’t get in

i love northstarmom’s comment. :)

ok aside from all the sarcasm, i sincerely wish dat you don’t worry so much. dat small error won’t be the BIGGEST factor to kill u in ur apps. i believe the Harvard admission officers are wise enough to judge your app based on more important factors.
