help do i need prereqs for my major if i have enough general ed units?

I'm transferring from community college to a CSU fall 2013 (hopefully Chico) and I have will have completed 64 general education units by the end of this current semester, but I don't have any of the prerequisites for my major (social work) complete! My school district doesn't even offer a couple of them! Can I still transfer?? I just found out I needed these classes. I've called Chico to ask and just get transferred around until I get a voicemail :( I'm so stressed out. If I can't transfer without them, would it be smart to call and ask to change my major to one that requires no prereqs, then change it back again once I get there?
PLEASE if anyone knows anything help!!

Call the Social Work dept directly and ask to speak to someone there who does advising for Social work majors and see if you can get a clearer answer.

Same question, here! Bump.

I just want to know if I can even APPLY to cal states with impacted programs without most prerequisites. Most of the websites are saying you need the prerequisites to get in the program but at junior level, could I apply and take the prerequisites in the cal state I’m planning to apply to??

poisonx, if you know what your major is, I would try calling the dept itself and ask if Jr. transfers are allowed to take prereqs that they have not completed before coming. If they say that you cannot transfer into the major you want without having completed them first then that will be your answer.

With impacted programs, they are probably more picky because they have so many students that want those limited spots.
