Hey guys, my school’s classes shifted over virtually and my physics teacher isn’t good at doing learning online (imo, he’s just not good at explaining concepts and the hw assignments are hard and we don’t get any feedback). I’m doing pretty badly in the class rn (I’ve done p well in all my other classes) and I was wondering what colleges will think??? do you think they’ll care about my poor grade in this class, or do you think they’ll understand that circumstances are harder/different in quarantine?
I think colleges will be a little more forgiving fo the upcoming admissions cycle, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be more proactive. Ask the teacher if you can meet after class. Hire a tutor. Do extra studying. There are ways to boost your grade in this class.
I agree you should be proactive, talk to the teacher, hire a tutor, seek out online help, etc.
TBH a lot of high schools are making it nearly impossible to fail. So while colleges will certainly be sympathetic given the circumstances, the fact remains your application and transcript will still be compared to those of your cohort. If your fellow students are taking advantage of the opportunities to either improve their grades or get easy A’s during what for so many has become
a time of indulgence and leniency, you would also be expected to make the most of teachers’ willingness to offer extra time and help. The pandemic is a reason for your struggle, but don’t make it an excuse.
