Help finding medical EC's

Im a rising senior and i need help trying to find some Medical experience.
Ive called all the local hospitals and they have no internships or shadowing available, the only thing they mention is volunteering by filing papers. I really need some advice on how to get some experience other than busy work filing papers.

contact doctors directly - you might have more luck.

Call Drs who you know, like your pediatrician for example, and ask to speak with them personally. Ask if you can shadow. Also try emailing. Its all in the numbers. Ask a lot of drs. Do not give up. Be persistent. Also try free clinics.

Go on craigslist and search for jobs, since you're 18 there are a lot of home health aid jobs available for you. If you're not 18 you can probably find another medical related job. I found a bunch, but usually you have to be 16-18+ to do them, and I am 15 :(.

If all you can find is an office job in a medical office you should take it, you'll learn a lot about how medical business offices work. It'll save some time if you want to open up your own practice one day.

I did eventually find a medical job where I will be working in the office of a huge OB GYN center with 8+ doctors and i found an internship at a surgical hospital 1 day a week. Good luck keep on searching.

yeah im about to turn 16. I currently volunteer and about to start Red cross stuff. Other than that, i contacted hospital for shadowing and they said no. I contacted hospice volutneer and they said no as well.

Good Medical Ecs?????? i want to get exposed to medicine and get into a BS/MD program.

yeah, im 17 and also trying to get into Ba/MD program. Ill try contacting the Doctors directly and look on craigslist for jobs. Thanks for all the help.

Its not that easy: most doctors don't even respond (I know from experience). And private practice hospitals have all these regulations and approval processes for shadows. But there are ways around those things

To maximize your yield, I suggest first volunteering a bit, and then contacting a doctor you know at that hospital. Its a lot easier to get that approved.

is it too late this summer for internships and such, or research?

It may not be glamorous, but they're always looking for volunteers, and wil provide training

you got a site mishdoob?

go to American Red Cross - Preparing Communities for an Emergency and Keeping People Safe - Preparedness enter your zip code for your area, and check out the training and volunteer opportunities. It's not ideal, but they'll give training and at least is medical-related, in a pinch.
