Ok, so I am a senior now, still trying to figure out where I am headed to next year and I was greatly aided by this forum in my college search and SAT prep.

My sister is a freshman in high school and my mom wants her to start studying for the SATs now. I kind of think it is a bit too early to do any hardcore prepping, but I am not the best source, I was a huge procrastinator with my studying haha.

My mom wants me to work with her because she doesn't have the same drive I did to do well on the SAT and I typically do better in school and on tests, but my score wasn't that amazing, with a lot of prep I think she could beat my score (2110)

So, I think she should hold off until this summer. Then I think she should just do the SAT question of the day, play some games on grockit, etc..., some things like that. She reads I lot more than I did/do, she she might have a leg up on vocab.

Then, when she is a sophomore, I think she should start doing some practice tests. I would like to hold off on the blue book until her summer before junior year, so I was thinking some PR tests, Kaplan, Barrons, etc... Some more grockit and stuff like that as well. Noting intense, maybe just 5-10 hours a month.

Then, summer before junior year, the real fun will begin. She should use the blue book (she can use mine, I have about 5 tests left, hopefully they will update a new BB within a year or so with new tests, and she could buy that one too) and start studying a few vocab lists. I have Direct Hits from this year, but I think she should order the current one for her year.

Oh and I'll try to get my hands on some old PSAT tests for her. I think you need around a 213 for my state, so it might be a hefty goal, but one that she could work towards. It would be cool if she could get commended or something.

Anything else she should probably do? I was somewhat diligent, but I wouldn't follow my personal way of studying for the SAT. Started hardcore studying the week before, ordered DH then and it didn't come until Friday. Memorized most of the words, but it was a pain doing it all Friday night.

So I'm hoping she can learn from my mistakes.

Any other tips? Thanks!
