Does anyone know what type of help is available for someone with Executive Function Disorder? S is a junior in high school and is drowning. I am not sure he is going to stick it out if we can't find a way to relieve the stress he goes through on a daily basis. Have thought about home schooling but I really don't know anything about it or if it is too late to start it for this school year.
He is on meds for ADD but that is not helping enough. Any thoughts?

Does your child have an IEP? If not, why not? The special ed. team at his school should have taken care of this long ago!

My experience with this is limited, but from my observation the EFD kids were the ones that were most carefully trained back in middle school to use planners. By the time they get to high school, most of them are amazingly organized because it has just been drilled into them. At the very least, I'd expect your kid to have a planner, and to go through a semester or two of having the teachers be required to initial it every single day indicating that each of them knows that he has written all of the correct assignments down. And, every single day, you would be expected to initial it indicating that you have seen the planner and know that he has all of the assignments recorded. The resource teachers would be the ones who would have the responsibility of helping him organize longer-term projects so that they are broken down into do-able units and turned in on time.

See if something like this can be set up for your kid.

Wishing you all the best.
