What are your grades and scores like? Where do you live? What kind of schools are you interested in? How much can your family help you financially?

Do you have a green card? If you don’t have a green card, what is your immigration status? If you have a green card, you can apply for federally determined financial aid using the FAFSA [FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)

Are you in high school now? If so, you should talk with your guidance counselor. That person can help you choose good places to study, and can help you find out about financial aid.

Did you finish high school in your home country before moving to the US? If so, you should read through the information at [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://www.educationusa.state.gov/) This will help you understand the college admission process. For specific advice, you could even email their office in your home country. The counselors there might have some good ideas for you.

i m a resident but not citizen,I have a green card too.
thank u for happymomof1.

i still don’t how to apply schoarship = =

Your guidance counselor would be the best person to help you. You also can get step by step help in knowing what to do to apply to college by reading one of the college guides put out by companies like Newsweek, and available at many bookstores and news stands.

If your guidance counselor is too busy, start using the internet. There is a tremendous amount of scholarship information online. Type into google ‘scholarship’ and the names of schools you might be interested in. Start reading, learning the requirements. If you have questions, call those schools directly. If you have good grades and good test scores, contact private schools in your area. Many have financial aid for high achieving students in need. From your nic, I assume you’re Asian. I would also target private schools where Asians are under-represented minorities (for example, parts of the mid-west/mountain states/the south) which would make you more attractive to schools looking to boost their diversity. As you’re doing this, have your parents become familiar with FAFSA (happymom above gave you the link) which will tell you what kind of government aid you may qualify for. Don’t give up, finding scholarship money can be a frustrating – but also ultimately rewarding.

thank everyone.

ew, my counselor is having holidays.

Which website is safe for applaying scholarship??

apply. = = sorry.

Don’t worry about this until you can talk with your counselor. You need to know which colleges and universities are on your list, and you need to know if you can pay for them without a scholarship. While you are waiting for your counselor to come back from vacation, visit the Financial Aid Forum, and read through the threads that apply to your individual situation.

You also need to meet with the ESL teachers at your school. Your written English is very weak. You need to be certain that your reading and writing skills are good enough for college-level work.
