Ok, it’s been 25 years since I’ve bought a toaster, not kidding. My Kenmore toaster has been a trooper, but after 6 moves, it’s losing it’s heating coil umph. The decades have not been good to the brand, so not sure the new model is as reliable. Looking for a 4 slice with defrost (for my Hanover frozen pretzels, yum) in black and/or stainless. I love an even golden color; we take cinnamon toast very seriously in this house. Any suggestions?
Do NOT buy this one. It is awful! Not even, not golden and can’t even do the same bread the same way on consecutive days. Terrible!

Also, I am following the thread since I obviously need a new one, too!
We just went through this two months ago. Our old reliable Sunbeam just died. We ordered a toaster from Amazon, that could fit bagels and when we got it, it didn’t fit a regular bagel!
Our daughter moved out of her apartment and brought her Cuisinart toaster with her and we “appropriated” it. I don’t think anything lasts as before. Unless you plan on paying a ton for your toaster, I would suggest the Cuisinart that has “bagel” sizing. Cuisinart® Compact 4-Slice Toaster
Thanks. Yeah, the reviews on toasters are all over the place, or they’re reviews from the first week of ownership. I just don’t trust the stars😂
I’ll check it out, thanks! It sounds funny, but I really loved my toaster; 25 years on any small appliance except a kitchenaid mixer or a crock pot are rare, but I’d at least like it to last a few years
Over the years I’ve been lucky to find a few folks online, usually retired engineers, who refurbish vintage appliances. There was one man in OH, whose contact info I’ve lost, from whom I bought two refurbished percolators and a toaster for very reasonable prices. I wish I still had the small appliances we received as wedding presents decades ago. They were all in good working order when I either gave them away or they were “lost” in a move.
Our current toaster looks like the Cuisinart in the link above, except it’s red. I considered paying a premium for a toaster that I thought was made in the UK, but most are now made in China. The reviews, even on the UK-assembled models, aren’t terrific and they cost about four times as much as the one we bought.
My favorite toaster has been my DeLonghi. We found it on clearance somewhere (can’t remember from where) more than a decade ago.
My parent’s toaster, a wedding gift, lasted longer than 50 years. We were all sad when it finally died.
What is with them toasting more on one side than the other, like brown on one side and untoasted on the other? We like the long slots for either two pieces or a long piece of sourdough bread.
Just bought the Breville 2 slice smart toaster after our old toaster died. I cringed at paying that much for a toaster but it does make perfect toast, and looks great on the counter!
I have a KitchenAid toaster (just a two slicer but does bagels) that I love. Think it’s been 15 years or so. Still going strong but hate to think of it dying any time soon.
Love love love my yellow Duolit toaster:
I’ve had my Duolit for years now. People literally compliment the toaster when they visit. LOL
(I don’t see my yellow one any more.) I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond but I see Home Depot also has them (and other stores, of course.)
Highly recommend.
A designer toaster, anyone?

ummm, no
The blue is very pretty
We have a 2-slice Breville. It does the job and looks decent on the counter (blends into the surroundings, lol). It replaced the plastic sided toaster we had since the last decade of the last century. The Breville was not the cheapest one, and I remember going through the painful search process trying to get the best toast for my bucks! Good luck to the OP!
