I have no idea what college to attend. I’ve done tons of research, but no college seems right for me. They’re either too, too expensive, too selective or too far away. I need any suggestions or advice for this prospective Biology major student.
Thank You.
How much can you afford? Your GPA and SAT / ACT scores? In-state of?
- What can you and your parents afford?
- Home state? In-state options are usually the most affordable.
- SAT/ACT test scores? GPA (unweighted)? EC's?
- How close do you want to be from home?
- Biology is a standard major found at the pretty much all colleges so with thousands of schools from which to choose, you need to define some guidelines.
Cost constraints, do you need merit aid, GPA, test scores, rural or urban, geographic constraints?
There are thousands of good colleges with good bio programs. It’s like looking for “good stores” that have good milk.
Bio is a staple.
What is your state, what are your stats, how much will your parents pay each year?
What is your career goal?
Which schools you had rejected?
.
Sorry I’m so late in replying…My Act is a 20, I’m working on getting a 29 or 30+ , My GPA is 3.80
, and in state tuition is around $9,000.
Sorry for replying so late …
- We can’t afford anything pretty much over $20,000 a year.
- GPA unweighted is 3.8, weighted is over a 4.0, I take honors and ap classes.
But I have a low act score (20) I’m working on it as we speak. Aiming for a 29-30. - I want to attend out of state.
- Double majoring in Cardiovascular Science, and Biology.
Have you been evaluated for a learning disability? Sometimes low test scores with high academic achievement can be an indicator.
What is your FAFSA-calculated EFC?
Home state is still helpful, since cost constraints are significant.
Lol, no not at all. I didn’t prepare whatsoever.
I don’t know about the calculate Fasfa help, I just calculated Vanderbilt Univ. and the cost of tuition with financial aid.
There’s a major called Cardiovascular Science??? Where? Are what it the purpose of that major???
What is your career goal?
Did you take the PSAT as a junior? What was your score?

Did your parents SAY $20k per year? Or are you guessing? Please ask them!
It’s very hard to raise an ACT score more than a few points.
What is your home state?
Forget about Vandy. Even a 30 is too low.
Trust me if I put my mind to I’m gonna get into Vandy and I’m actually aiming for a 34.
I live in Tennessee.
I’m going to school to be a Cardiologist. The as a graduate to John Hopkins for medical school.
But even at Vandy I don’t think I will be happy…
I am truly considering Howard University in Washington DC.
