Help in Returning to School

I have a somewhat unusual situation and need help. My parents passed away when I was 12 and 13 and lived as a ward of the court. I went to a good high school, got good grades and graduated with honors. I was accepted into a lot of colleges I could not afford. I received scholarships but still had to take out a zillion loans and borrowed 5k from a high school friend who really didn't have it.

During school I worked 2 jobs and crashed and burned in school. Finished with a 2.1 and to keep my scholarships, I need 2.5 so I lost all my scholarships and have spent all summer trying to get them back. I did get a few on "provincial" status but it's as if I raise my GPA by January. I'm still about 15k short for school with no one to co-sign a loan or help me in any way.

I've been staying with friends over the summer and working. I have about 4k in the bank (which is huge for me). I've worked 7 days a week and tried to "fill the gap" between what I have and what I need.

I can transfer but am wondering if I just don't talk about this year of school. It was a disaster and negates all the hard work I did for 4 years in high school. A friend of mine who went to college and his sister died in October flamed out and finished with a 1.7 and when he went to apply to good schools and get in but didn't submit his terrible college transcript because it was so not who he was or what he was capable of.

I'd like to apply to a school for January but am not sure what my options are. 1st are there schools that have January admission and is financial aid available now?
