Yea, I'm kind of depressed my score in this section is stagnant. Its hard to break from the mid 600's range. I feel like I'm doing everything......idk

What types of questions are you getting wrong?

I’m getting both passage author agree/disagree questions especially wrong…some inference…

Try reading more in depth, spending more time on the passage and less time on the questions. If you go back to the passage often after reading questions like “What does the author…,” then you probably didn’t understand the passage enough.

If the problem is not having the ability to answer questions even after understanding the passage, post some specific questions and we can help you out

Indie500: With the author agree/disagree question, all you have to do is just look at the tone of Passages I and II. Now, what I would recommend you to do is put a positive or negative mark after you’re finished reading each of the passages. If one of them is generous or critical, you will know that both will turn into a physical argument. If the question is referring to a particular line, look at the tone of the other passage. If there’s a question referring to particular lines for both passages, instill the feeling of both lines and see which one they would agree or disagree. Do process of elimination. If both passages have an idea that they include, then they both would likely agree with each other. If one idea is agreed by one passage and the other isn’t, then they would both argue on that particular point. Like I said: Tone absorption is a facilitating technique (depends though, what works for me might not work for you).

Inference questions: Understand what the passage is talking about with that particular concept discussed. What is it really talking about?

For example: Bob went to the store, he had to pay money or else he would’ve been arrested. The store owner put the policy of consequence the customers could face if broken. He wanted to buy a candy, but did not want to interfere with the lawsuits if gets in trouble.

From that, you can infer: The narrator desires to ensure the store owner’s security of customer purchase.

Get it now?
