If she’s at all interested in conservation, take a look at Delaware, which offers a major in conservation and has one of only four graduate programs in the US in art and archaeological conservation. (NYU, UCLA-Getty, and Buffalo State are the others.) Several hundred hours of hands-on experience under a qualified conservator is vital for grad admissions. UD is a bit expensive for OOS students unless she can land merit aid, though.
Scripps has developed a pretty good undergraduate program in conservation. The Claremont consortium seems a great fit for someone with her wide interests.
^ we really love Skidmore. It’s been a great place for one of mine.
I’m afraid Vassar, Wesleyan and Middlebury would be a tough reach with a 3.3. The ACT won’t be a barrier but won’t likely overcome the GPA at those schools. I don’t pretend to know what they’ll do with the health information. On the one hand, my college counselor sister tells me anxiety is ubiquitous and admissions people tend to not be swayed by it. But I’m sure there are health situations that would really put her GPA into proper context.
Having been to the NESCAC rodeo and achieved some level of familiarity with those two schools, I don’t think they are reasonable targets unless she’s a coveted athlete, then Midd and Wes would be possible. Vassar doesn’t bend as much for athletes in our experience.
Muhlenberg, Skidmore, Ithaca, Bard, maybe Bennington, Earlham
In regards to suggestions earlier in the thread, Elon and Gettysburg have big Greek scenes. Middlebury and Vassar would expect higher GPA, especially from a female from NYC
^look closer at Skidmore’s stats. A 3.3 is not a match, even with a 32. I can’t speak to Bard though I expect similar to Skidmore. I think the others are solid matches.
For reference, my D was a recruited athlete at Skid, with similar scores and a higher GPA, and she did not just slide in there, even with coach support.
