Help me build a schedule???

Hey guys I am really stressed because there is a lot of classes I want/have to take but I only have 7 periods in the day.

I want/need to take: Spanish 3, Finance, Humanities, College Algebra, AP English Lang, AP Biology, AP Psychology, US History.

It is possible to take classes online but i would like to avoid take too many online.

I also need an off period (it can be a semester) because I have to work 4 days a week.

What should I do?

If I was you taking all of those classes, I would definitely take AP Lang, AP Bio, AP Psych, College Algebra, and Spanish 3 at school. That is 5 classes. The first 4 will be the hardest to do and you will do better being able to interact with a teacher and other students. Also, Spanish is easier when you can listen to the teacher speak and you have opportunities to work with other people. And depending on how well of an independent learner you are, I would also take US History at school, which makes 6. US History is a lot of material to learn and you will have to be very dedicated to do it on your own. That will give you a free period for 7th. However, if you want to take one more, humanities would be the harder of the two (humanities and finance) to take online. Finance would definitely be the easiest online class in my opinion.
Hope that helps!

Does everyone agree?

^No. It sounds like too much to me with close to a full-time job. Why do you want to take so many classes? Do you know what classes would qualify as the “Most Rigorous” schedule in your school? There’s no need for the online classes and probably no need for college courses.

@ CHD2013. Thank you so much for the response!

AP Lang, AP Bio, Spanish 3, and College Algebra are what I’m already assigned to take. In order if get an off period I could either take AP Psychology (for college and I find it really interesting) or two graduation requirements: finance and humanities each a semester. So what I was thinking was that If I took AP Psychology then I would take Finance and Humanities online. How does that sound?

I think you should take Spanish 3, College Algebra, AP English Lang, AP Biology, AP Psychology, US History because not only is this schedule challenging, but its well rounded and interesting.

AP Psych will not provide significant help in the admissions process. You’ve already got a rigorous schedule. I think the odds of it hurting you (getting lower grades because the schedule is just too demanding) are more than the odds of it helping you.

Agreed. I’d take History over Psych.

Spanish 3
AP English Lang
AP Biology
AP US History
College Algebra

That’s five. I assume that you have a lunch and a free period factored in there as well.

Thank you guys so much for the responses!

At my school lunch is not a period.

@shawnspencer: My schedule originally looked like yours with finance and humanities but I do not want to take APUSH because It is the hardest class in my school which is why I was going to take AP Psychology.

so this is what my original schedule looked like:

 1. Spanish 3
 2. Humanities / Finance
 3. College Algebra
 4. AP English Lang
 5. AP Biology
 6. US History
 7. Off Period

So do you think I should keep this schedule?

@NYHope The way you have it looks fine.

If you really wanted to, you could self study the AP Psychology for a couple weeks before the AP so you wouldn’t have to take the class.

Do you know what area you want to go into at all for the future? Let’s say you wanted to be a psychiatrist: then AP Psych would serve you better than US History.

@omgjusttellme: Yes I want to be a high school teacher

In that case, I would cut out Finance, but that all depends on what you want to teach.

I wish I could cut out finance but it’s a graduation requirement :(

Dang, that sucks. Then probably Humanities. It sucks when courses are required for graduation. Like Health Class. We get how the birds and the bees works, we don’t need some old perverted teacher to tell us.

Ya haha I’ve already taken health. I wish I could cut out humanities but that’s also a graduation requirement :frowning: both each a semester
