We have never owned a toaster, just toaster ovens. I’ve never been happy with how they made toast. Since anything we would cook/reheat in the toaster oven we can do in the air fryer, I’m ready to ditch it and get a regular toaster.
I want one that can do thick items like bagels and has slots that accommodate longer pieces of bread. I don’t want a cheap one but don’t want to pay over $100 either. Any suggestions?
I have a $25 cuisinart toaster. This is the second I’ve had…it replaced one we had for over 20 years. Makes fine toast, and slots can hold half a bagel or English muffin.
I guess it’s $29 now!
We have had this for a couple of years and are happy with it

We also have a Black and Decker. It’s going on 8 years old now. We have a basic Breville toaster. It is a decade old or so.

Our D received an older version of this toaster as a wedding gift. We love it! I even broke my ‘no appliances for gifts’ rule so I could get this for my birthday.
I think this is our toaster - the older version, too! I bought it simply because its color matched our appliances, but it turned out to be a good toaster!

I found an old gift card, so splurged on this one. Hope it’s worth it!

I’ve had the toaster a week. Toast the first day came out great. Second day of use - didn’t toast to the set level. Tried to retoast it and the lever wouldn’t stay down and the cancel light kept coming on. Unplugged and tried again, still wouldn’t stay down. Off to the UPS Store to send it back. I’m willing to exchange it for a new one and hope I have better luck.
I’ve never had that trouble with my $30 Cuisinart toaster🙄
Probably just a fluke!
I think you can good luck with inexpensive or expensive toasters. And I think you can have trouble with inexpensive or expensive toasters. Whether $30 or $130!
If it makes you feel better I had to return toasters at least four times before getting one that worked. Finally got a Kitchen Aid. Only two slice but has wide slots for bagels. But I bought it probably 15 years ago so sure my model isn’t around. But the brand hasn’t failed me yet.
But what a pain that was! How hard can toast be?
They just don’t make things like they used to. My parents have a 50 year old 4 slice toaster that one side doesn’t work now but two slots still do perfect toast.
I purchased a Breville convection toaster oven. It had problems within a short period of time. Fortunately Bed Bath and Beyond let me exchange it. Second one has been working for years.
The replacement toaster has arrived. Wish me luck!
This is the toaster I have. I’ve had it a couple of years (it replaced a similar 2-slice breville)
So far so good.
