Help me choose a GRAD SCHOOL - UIC, CSU LB, FIT, UTA, CSUN, SJSU, Northeastern

Hi guys,

I've been accepted by the following:

UIChicago - MS in Industrial Engineering

CSU Long Beach - MS in Mechanical Engineering

Florida Institute of Technology - MS in Systems Engineering

UT Arlington - MS in Industrial Engineering

CSU Northridge - MS in Engineering Management

San Jose State - MS in Industrial Engineering

Northeastern - MS in Engineering Management

I've completed my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Lancaster University in the UK. However, I've been working in the logistics industry for over a year now and I have developed an interest toward pursuing Industrial/Systems Engineering or Engineering Management for my MS.

Personally my preference for a course is as below:

Industrial/Systems Engineering

Engineering Management

Mech Engineering

HOWEVER, I'll make the final choice of course myself, but I'd like to hear about which university is a better choice for grad school. Please be objective and base your discussion on the quality of education offered by the above universities.

Northeastern and UIC are probably the strongest overall of the group.

If there is any chance that you may want to get a PhD, you should be aware that the Master Plan for Higher Education in California prohibts California State Universities from offering doctoral degrees. Only campuses of the University of California can do that. So once you have received your MS you would have to go all through the graduate school application process again to transfer to a university that can offer doctoral degrees.

Thanks guys. Yeah I understand that Cal State system doesn’t offer PhDs.

Anyway, even I’m of the opinion that UIC is probably the best amongst the list. However, anybody with more information, please reply.
