I'm currently being recruited by Dartmouth, brown, university of Chicago, and some others. I could go to about any division 3 school I would want, pompna, Johns Hopkins, MIT etc. which one is the best academically?

Recruited for football that is

Wait until you get accepted because recruited does not automatically mean accepted. You might have to enter through the same door as other applicants at those top institutions.

I would
100% get accepted at brown because of the recruiting quotas but Uchicago may be a tad different than that since there is no quotas. But I realize that both institutions are going to give me the same thing academically. But what I’m looking at is which has the better connections, opportunities, and post graduate options with jobs, internships, etc.

I’m not sure about the other Division 3 schools, but you have the wrong idea about sports recruiting at MIT. If you’re otherwise qualified for entrance, your football skills may make you stand out to the admissions committee, but then again, they may not. The coaches, no matter how hard they may be recruiting you, have no direct influence into the decision-making process.

As XtremePower says, with schools at this level you generally wait to see which ones you get into (if any) before you decide which one you’re going to.

It seems that your best bet is to focus on the schools with quotas (the Ivys plus maybe some of the others) and also apply to those without quotas that interest you. If you’re good enough to be recruited at the Ivy League level, it seems that you’d want to especially focus on those schools since the football would be at a much higher level than Div 3.

I have enough ECs and that sort of thing for admission, and I have football, but the only thing I’m lacking is a super test score. Currently I have a 29 ACT or 1870 SAT. But regardless of where I will get admitted or not, I would like some input on which is the best school.

Two questions:

Is financial aid an issue? Brown/Dartmouth do not give sports scholarships.

What do you plan to study and how hard do you want to study?

All the schools on your list are great schools. There is no “best” school; it depends on who you are and what you’re planning to major in. The best school for you isn’t necessarily the most selective one. I could say MIT is the best school on your list, but if you’re planning to major in classics, that won’t be the case.

I am well aware of the financial situations unfortunately lol. And I wish I knew what I want to study. I was thinking possibly poly sci in the direction of military Intelligence so will have to take computer classes although I have minimal skill and experience with computers lol so I will have to make up some ground. And I’m extremely motivated and determined as a student so I believe I can handle about anything.

I couldn’t tell from your response whether you expected to get full financial aid from Brown/Dartmouth because your families EFC would be very low. If that’s the case, I think Brown would be a good option. If not, I would consider Div I - maybe the Patriots league like American University, Bucknell, etc.- are you a strong enough player to get recruited by these schools? You didn’t post you SATs/GPA but unless they’re very high I wouldn’t suggest MIT.

In terms of going into Military Intelligence, I don’t think there are “core schools” that will help you land a position - check out this discussion for more thoughts:

I found out that for university of Chicago you need either a 3.8 GPA OR a 30 ACT. I pretty much have both and expect similar situations at other elite division 3 schools. Scholarship div. 1 schools might be a stretch for me, although they are not impossible. My financial situation is that my family makes enough money that we wouldn’t get a whole lot of financial aid BUT! we don’t have enough to be able to afford full price so we have to explore other options. Although I was told that if I make it we can find a way so that’s good news

Univ of Chicago is a solid choice. Maybe consider some DC area schools (Georgetown) if you are pursuing a CIA/FBI job post-graduation.

I was thinking that too. They offer scholarships for football too I think which would be great. I would love Georgetown
