Hi, i'm going to be a high school senior next fall. I've a massive college list that i don't think i'll be able to research all of them.
So please feel free to take out some schools.
I want my ideal school to have a family-like atmosphere that will allow me to get involve in many events. I'm the kind of person who needs more personal attention cause i tend to shy away in huge lecture halls and i need a school that will help me improve my social skills and get me out of my comfort zone. I wish to become a doctor some day so i wish to attend schools that have a pretty decent pre-med programs and also strong economics programs, cause i might be majoring in either a science-related or economics major. Getting a first class education will be my main concern. I've lived in Taiwan and New Zealand before, so i can pretty much endure any kind of weather. However, if possilbe, i wish to live in a campus within a 50 mile radius to a major city with fun activities and excellent classical music symphonies. Here are the schools in different categories and also my stats.

Here's an outline of my resume ( I live in a small town and attend a small school of 600 students with limited class and clubs offered, so my resume is mediocre compared to big city kids) :
GPA 3.9 weighted: 4.2
class rank: top 2percent

Actually if i list them all people might just say i'm copying down US news top 30 LAC schools.
I'll just list the ones i'm very interested right now
Bowdoin
Bates
Williams
Kalamazoo
Northwestern
u of chicago
vanderbilt

These are all reach schools for me, could u guys recommend me some match schools as well as some safeties?

Not sure about Eco but Case Western is an awesome little school with a very nice pre-med program. But I would advise visiting it before hand because it is not for everyone but most of the people that end up there love it. It would be either a good match or safety for you.

betterday--
My S. will be attending Kalamazoo this fall. Top LAC in our state with state-of-the-art science facilities, strong Econ. dept., excellent med. school placement. With your stats and geographic diversity advantage, consider K College a match, not a reach.

Based on what you ask for, I'm not sure your list makes any sense.

Bowdoin - maybe I'm mistaken, but Portland isn't exactly a 'huge' city with lots of things going on, and it's 20 miles away, and does it have a classical symphony worth noting? I love Bowdoin but I'm not sure it's right for you.

Bates - same deal.

Williams - I don't know anything about Williams.

Kalamazoo - moderately close to Grand Rapids, but...

Northwestern - this seems like it would be PERFECT, but your comment about lecture halls may make you shy away from NU.

u of chicago - if you can handle the work and environment here, this would be ideal as well.

vanderbilt - the most logical choice on here for you. Excellent music school, in the middle of a great city that does indeed have a stellar music scene, both classical and modern. good size too and not too may big classes.

well getting a good education and having a friendly family-like atmosphere are my main concerns. So yea, any school that is good in academics is fine. geographical location is secondary.

when deciding on colleges theu.com really helped me cuz they have a run down of all the major schools from a student perspective w/ student interviews and stuff that's not censored for parents, you can buy their dvds if you want, but even the free preview on their site was pretty helpful

just a random question here, should i apply ED to either Bowdoin or Bates just because they don't require my SAT scores? Cause my ECs and class GPA, rank tend to outweigh my SAT scores.

I would recommend Haverford (right outside of Philly, warm atmosphere, probably a reach for you though), Brandeis (probably a slight reach, but your location would probably give you a boost, good sciences, close to Boston), Clark (match/safety, very small university, good school, location is not wonderful, but its 40 minutes from Boston), Macalester and Oberlin. If you're willing to go down south, I would recommend University of Richmond and Rhodes.

Bowdoin is pretty close to Portland and is an excellent school. Even with SATs being optional, it's still probably a reach for you. Bates is fairly far from a large city and I would strongly recommend that you visit the campus before deciding to apply early. Lewiston is not a very attractive city and some students I have spoken to have not particularly enjoyed the campus or the location (although Bates is a very good school and most students are quite happy there).

when u say reach i'm guessing Haverford and Bowdoin are reaches for pretty much any applicant?
and.. is it Clark university? or college? I'm having trouble searching it on collegeboard

Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Interesting place. Neighborhood is a little...non-bucolic, otherwise it would probably be a lot harder to get into.
