Help me decide SCEA or RD...and chances please

Hi, everybody

I'm interested in math/science/engineering/technology.

Weighted GPA: about 4.6
Unweighted GPA: about 3.8-3.9

NHS

Chemistry Club President (10th, 11th, 12th grades): chemistry tutoring, chemistry presentations at local elementary schools, organizing ACS Chemistry Olympiad

Law internship (11th)

Paid environmental engineering internship (summer from 11th-12th) at Cal State Long Beach

Summer program in math olympiads and problem solving at Stanford (EPGY Program, summer from 9th-10th)

Math club member...took the AMC a couple of times, got mediocre scores (around 80 or 90)

Going to be an intern at Boeing 1st semester of 12th grade (this fall)

Should I apply SCEA or RD? Anybody take the time to chance me for Stanford?

Thanks a lot!

Looks pretty good. Apply SCEA if Stanford is your first choice.

will applying SCEA be disadvantageous since the app pool is so much stronger?

I don't believe it is. If they were to accept you RD, they will not reject you EA. The only reason to postpone your app to RD is if you think that you will have a stronger application by that time (major awards, etc.)

wow. impressive
i want to say ur in, but bleh~ i'm a senior too

you know the early pool is more competitive this year

aloha are you thinkin about SCEA or RD?

nngmm: if i wait til RD i will have finished the internship at Boeing...will this make much of a difference? I'm already finished with all my testing.

Pretty impressive. Oh and even if your school doesn't rank the uni will still ask them what decile you're in (I'm guessing your in the top 10% no?). If you can still include your internship at Boeing in your SCEA application then it shouldn't make much of a difference.

I think you have a pretty good shot at Stanford.

@superwizard: Thanks. i think i should safely be in the top 10 %...is that the highest category, or do they have a top 5%? The boeing internship runs for 1st semester so when i apply i'll still be in the middle of it...do you think i should wait for RD so that i can be in boeing longer or does it not really matter?

btw what year are you in stanford?

i'm thinking... why not SCEA?

I'm really not sure. I just remember talking to my advisor in high school about it and he told me that they still put percentages even if they don't rank.
