So I’m interested in political science and history and I want to eventually attend law school.
My current acceptances that I am considering are UC Santa Cruz, University of Denver, Cal Poly SLO, and San Diego State. I’ve been waitlisted at UC Irvine and I sent in an appeal to UC Santa Barbara just stating new information with some letters of recommendation, just because I have the time with quarantine and all. But I’m more focused on my acceptances obviously!
I need major help in deciding where to go, I’m leaning towards UC Santa Cruz as of right now but any information is helpful about any of my schools!
I’d make a spreadsheet/list of the following factors:
-Cost of attendance
-Graduation rate
-Job placement rate (if you can find it)
-US News ranking (if that’s important to you)
-possible majors and minors you’d want to take and if the school offers them
-size of school
And anything else that’s important. Obviously take into account the school’s setting, Denver and Santa Cruz are noticeably different.
Right, the only problem is I can’t visit any of these schools so I’ve been on youtube and wanted to ask people what they thought would be best for someone who’s interested in law. When it comes to cost of attendance they’re all about the same, Denver they gave me aid which made the cost the same as UC schools.
I would also compare program curriculum’s and course offerings to see if any of the schools have more classes of interest or focus that you would prefer.
UC Santa Cruz is a beautiful campus, location near but super close to San Jose/Silicon Valley for internships and a bit isolated. More known for their Engineering/Environmental and Biological science programs.
San Diego state near beaches, in a large city with many opportunities. The Department of Justice has a large office near the San Diego train depot and offers internships to SDSU students. Not too familiar with their Political science or History program but PS is a very popular major at SDSU.
Cal Poly SLO, another beautiful campus, slightly isolated but a great college town. SLO students/grads do well in the attaining internships/jobs. Again, not familiar with their Political Science/History options.
