Hey there! I know it’s a long post. Kindly bear with me.
I am a 12th-grade Indian student planning to apply to the US universities. My initial goal was Stanford. It still is my dream college as it has the CS+X course. Besides, it was the college that really resonated with my ideas. It has been on my mind long enough to make me actually fill in their supplement questions on common app.
But, on the other hand, I know that with my SAT scores and AP scores, it’s really hard for me to get in. I couldn’t quite practice for my SATs or APs considering that we don’t have summer holidays (not sure if it’s just my state) and I come home only at 6. I was able to study only for one week before every exam as we have exams here pretty much every day (again not sure if it’s just in my state). But these are just excuses. And that is exactly why I am looking for another college that will suit me. Sometimes, I just have to move on.
Besides, I’m a little weird in the education part. I have staunch principles on what is education. I believed that my love for DIY crafts is education in a way and mixed my craft projects with school projects (I once made a pop-up flower card and stuck the employment rate in various countries in the flowers). I switched from Matriculation (or State Board, not much difference) which is known for rote learning to CBSE. This is extremely rare - there are no statistics of people who’ve done this and people often shift from CBSE to State Board believing it would be easier to get high scores.
Here are my specifications:
SAT score: 1970 (I’ve rewritten the new SAT but not sure how much I’ll get)
AP scores: 3 in English Language and Composition and 3 in Computer Science A (T_T)
I haven’t taken my SAT subject tests. Hope to do so in October.
9th grade: Got an A1 in everything except English and the regional language. But I was class second in English.
10th grade: 493/500, a perfect score in science, maths and social science, 98 in English and 95 in the regional language.
11th grade: I don’t exactly know my score but I was in the top six people.
Extra-curriculars:
I don’t exactly know what counts here. We don’t have any clubs in our schools for 11th and 12th and my previous school didn’t have any clubs for 10th. No leadership positions were assigned in the clubs we had. But I was very popular in the Art club. I used to teach children modular origami and quilling.
I had started my own magazine once.
Social justice is my thing. I write for a website based on that. A friend and I just started a youtube channel about it.

I loooove writing. I’ve been writing since I was 8. I used to write in various notebooks and circulate them among friends. Now I’m writing my second novel which I hope to publish traditionally. I am also publishing a book full of poetry with a friend by the end of this month. Been published in a newspaper before. A horror short story I wrote was ranked as #59 on Wattpad.
Started a website when I was 11. I also had made a website for our class. Now I am working on another website which integrates my love for literature and computer science and could possibly let people take part in stories by making decisions. I might submit it as my supplement.
I know this isn’t much… But I couldn’t really fit anything else in my schedule. I do have a huge interest in art and psychology besides this. But I haven’t done much in them besides devouring on books about them.
Phew, here we are.
Thank you for your time!
