I signed up for AP Calc BC class in state university, but here is my concern.
I also have to study for ACT. I am getting almost perfect score on math portion, but I do really poorly in Enlgish and Reading. I have to work really hard until this october test.
If I take AP Calc BC, I am worried if I don't have a time to study for ACT. My school counselor recommended to take pre-college english program, basic writing and basic reading.

If I take AP Calc BC
- College will think I am challenging myself (it will look way better than pre-college classes)
- I might have no time to study ACT. (I did really bad. I HAVE TO GET BETTER SCORE)
- Also this term I have only one honor class, rest of them will be all general classes (our school is using block schedule)

If I take Pre-College English class
- College will think I am lazy
- It will help me to improve ACT English portion

I have no idea what to do, any advice from anyone?
Just you know, I want to get into Cornell, CAS

Personally, I’d go with AP Calc BC. It looks like you’re fairly adept at math already, so it would be a good choice.

As for studying for the reading/writing section, self-studying is always an option as long as you’re willing to commit to the work. Get a review book and just keep drilling.

I think you should take AP Calc BC. If you already took AB, the first semester is pretty much a review. If you did not, it still consists of fairly easy concepts to understand (It is the C part second semester that gets difficult). Also, it would definitely show motivation to go beyond your school curriculum (since you’re going to a college).
^ I agree with nuclearfree…you should just keep practicing and drilling a little every day and you will see improvement.

If you put the test issue aside for the moment…do you need the pre-college English classes to teach you basic skills so that you will be ready for college? It would be really helpful to be prepared for college-level reading and writing assignments.
