Please recommend colleges for premed/biomed engineering

bump

I think of CMU, CWRU and the University of Rochester as being similar in a good way, so I’d add U of R. I think Rochester may have the most traditional campus within this group. … Wow, no one from your school has gotten a 3 in AP Chem?

Ok, ill check out Rochester. And yes, no one has ever passed the ap chem exam at my school, but i doubt getting a 4 will look any better in admissions taking that into account.

Scoring a 4 as an outlier in your school could help you in unexpected ways – a recommendation from a teacher may acknowledge the achievement, for example.

Cornell is another school to consider. Your GPA, as well as other aspects of your application, would have to stand up to some extra scrutiny for this school though. Your guidance counselor can help you evaluate your chances.

Oh good heavens! How does that AP teacher keep her position as the chem teacher??? If this happened at my kids’ high school, that teacher would not be teaching that AP class after the first year.

Anyway…can we assume that since your family is very affluent that they’ll pay for any school that you’ll attend? Will they also pay for med school?

Why BioMedE for your major? I know that it sounds “sexy” for a premed, but it can also be a GPA killer and if you do’t end up with a med school acceptable GPA, then what will you do with that limiting major?

What kind of school do you like?
big, small, quiet, rah rah, city, rural, greek life? what?

She has always taught students the first 10 chapters. She thought it was better to cover too few and make the kids understand them well than blaze through them for the Ap exam. Med school will also be paid for in full. I have looked int BME since i can use it to prepare for Medical school, or if I change my mind, I can become biomedical engineer, which I think is also quite interesting. I dont care what type of school, just looking for any recommendations.

have you considered boston university? it is a great research facility and has an awesome pre med program

I have not, i will check it out
