Help me narrow down my list please. Need to cut three schools!

Baldwin-Wallace
Cal State - Chico
Elon University
University of Hartford - Hartt
Illinois Wesleyan
James Madison U
Northwestern
Oklahoma City
Penn State
University of Michigan
University of Northern Colorado
University of Puget Sound

Stats: 3.99 UW Cumulative GPA, 650 W, 530 M, 730 CR (retook the SAT on Oct. 4 and I feel really good that I raised my scores)

I'm applying to musical theatre programs. My non-audition safety is Cal State-Chico. The rest (except I believe University of Puget Sound, which doesn't have a MT program anyway and Northwestern, which is still quite a reach) are all auditioned programs. If it has an audition to get into the program, it's a reach. I've narrowed it down based on their musical theatre programs, and now I need to narrow it down based on the schools themselves.

I would prefer a LAC, I like the idea of a smaller, more intimate school. On the other hand, I don't really want an isolated college community. I would like to have the option of not always being immersed in college life - an urban setting would be ideal, though it's okay if it's not. I'd REALLY like to be able to live off-campus the first year, but there are few of my schools that allow that.

Strength in their English (or Journalism, if they have it) programs would be awesome. If I have any electives available in my major, I'll probably use them to take English or Journalism or Writing classes (I'm interested in theatre criticism).

Let me know if the weather sucks in any of these places...I'm from the Northwest so I know about rain and all, but three feet of snow every day doesn't sound appealing at all...

Maybe also ease of getting there? Or expense? I want to be able to come home as much as possible.

Thanks a ton! Trying to narrow the list down to 9...

If you like the idea of a smaller, more intimate school, you should immediately cross Penn State off your list. The place is humongous, like 50,000 students, or something like that.

Univ. of Michigan is also pretty large. I'd bet they also get their fair share (and more) of snow.

Good luck to you!

Cut University of Northern Colorado unless you have a good reason to keep it. Nothing good can come from living in Greeley. The weather isn't bad but the air always smells of cow manure.
