Help me narrow down the list of schools I want to apply to?

I have a pretty huge list of schools to apply to. I need help narrowing it down. My ACT score is 33 and I haven't gotten my SAT scores back yet. GPA unweighted is 3.7 but I've taken 10 AP/College Credit classes including this year.

Reach (I'm hoping at least 1 accepts me):
Stanford EA
Duke
UC Berkeley
USC
Pomona
Claremont McKenna
UCLA
Georgetown
Harvard

Match:
UC San Diego
UC Santa Barbara
University of Washington

Safety:
Oregon State University
Washington State University
University of Idaho (where I live haha)

I have 15 schools on this list. Most people agree that I need to narrow my list down, and I agree because this will cost me WAY too much money if I apply to all of them. Please help me here!!

I’d pick one of Pomona or Claremont McKenna since they’re sister schools and you’ll have access to both when you go to either.

I might pick between just one of UCLA and Berkeley.

Unless you want to do it for the hell of it, skip Harvard. It’s a lottery for someone even with a 36 and a 4.0 UW. It’s possible you’ll get accepted, but highly unlikely (and that is not a reflection on you at all).

I’d pick one more reach to skip, and then you’d be down to 11 schools. Whichever one you’re the least keyed up about. Eleven is still a lot, but it’s a step in the right direction.

You’re probably right about Harvard. It’s last on my list because I’ve been reconsidering applying there.

I like your other suggestions- I’ll consider them. Thanks for the reply! Anyone else?

What do you want to major in? For me it was a huge factor, looking at the academic strength of the college for the major that I was interested in. I know that many people end up switching their majors in college but still, knowing that I was more interested in studying a certain subject was very useful when narrowing down my list. Anyways, good luck!

I’m undecided about my major. Right now though, I’m thinking International Relations which I know Georgetown has a great program, I’m not sure about the others though. Thanks.

Other suggestions? :)

I have decided i am NOT applying to University of Washington, Harvard, and I’m picking only 2 UC schools but I haven’t decided which yet. So I’m down to 11 which is slightly more reasonable. Thanks for the suggestions. It’d be nice to knock off a few more but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
