Help me pick a Laptop :]

nice… i’m between two laptops for college… T400 and Dell Studio 15… any thoughts?
T400- pro: durable, solid machine that will last long time. con: not so good look, less entertainment

Dell Studio- Pro: better entertainment with good display con: consumer laptop, won’t last long like t400.

any idea?

hey guys thanks for the reponses!

so i decided to go with the HP HDX16!
it had a sale on thier website for the 4th of july! and there was a 30 dollars cupon and no shippin n handling fee.

got it a couple days ago! and its beautifulll. i love the keypad and the black lit icons. really fun webcam stuff. the sound system is amazinnggg! and i love thier fingerprint scanner! i can logon to all my sites with s swipe of a finger without having to always type in my email or password.

its actually a lot lighter than i thought it would be. i think the site said it was like 7 ish pounds and i was expecting it to be heellla heavy but when i got it it was fairly light and transportable. and i loveee having 500GB since i have soo many things to store ahaha

con: battery life is only 2.5 hours

love my new laptop!

and @SYNCH: o0o nice choice! your laptop has a really cool touch pad feature :]

^^^
I am happy for you buddy and I searched for your laptop, it appears to have cool specs. I ordered fingerprint scanner too and am looking forward to being able to log on to websites with a swipe of a finger.

Anyways, have fun with your laptop!!!

hmm does anyone have any opinion the acer computers? i see one person (proton) commented on them. i want something that’s going to be worth my money and i have a friend who has an acer who said that it works fine and pretty well too. and they’re so much cheaper! they range from like 300-700 instead of like 1000-1500.

and all i really need is to be able to play cd’s and dvd’s, word software and sort of basic stuff. and i’m a polisci and environmental systems major…i don’t know what i need as far as a computer for those majors. is it more worth it getting a cheap acer or like that hp hdx16 or other more expensive laptops?

@ saraahhh well i got an acer llike 5 years ago… ehh it crashed on me after less than a year. so im not a huge acer fan…

hmm depends on screen size i guess. mines a pretty big screen so it cost more… and i want a lot of storage space and stuff the hphdx seems pretty worth it.

hmm try the dells?
this one is about 600 bucks,

also at UCSD i heard the tech support can help fix laptops such as hp, apples, lenovos brands on campus… dont think acer was on their list… but maybe

Dell XPS models have a bad tendency to overheat and even get hot enough to melt the fan. ): Something about the graphics card and GPU temperature. :x I had to get the motherboard and memory replaced because it overheated on me. However, Dell support is generally good, at least for me anyways.
