Alright guys, so I just want some help deciding on which colleges I’ve chosen are safety, target, and reach schools. I am open to any suggestions about removals or additions to the list. I’m only adding my academic credentials but if anyone asks explicitly, I will add my extracurriculars and what not. Okay so here are my credentials

Rank: 39 out of 473 (Top 10%)

I’d consider any college from this list that suits your general criteria: “The Experts’ Choice: Colleges with Great Pre-med Programs” (available online). As your list stands now, you have already included several. Your ACT is better and generally more consistent than your SAT, so you should think about not submitting your SAT I scores if they do not improve. Subject tests should be considered depending on the requirements and recommendations of your schools of interest.
Your list is great. Submit ACT scores as that is equal to SAT 1510 and 2250 (CR + M and CR+M+W) plus for most schools you would not have submit subject tests. Not sure about Cornell though so check each school’s requirements.
Medical school can be very expensive. You do not want so much total debt that you cannot afford to go into pediatrics, which is not as high paying as some other medical specialties.
Do you have 2 posts with the same information? Thought I’d replied to someone with the exact same stats. You ACTs are stronger than your SATs…by a lot. You seem pretty competitive for all of them including Hopkins, Chapel Hill and Wash U (if you are full pay for this one). But because you never know…make sure you have safeties that you are willing to attend. Also, sometimes low cost school are also low budget school (if low cost without financial aid). Visit to ensure you will feel good about being there if it comes to that.
If your act is way better than your sat then ONLY submit the act. If you get a nice score on a subject test you can submit it with score choice in addition to your SAT.
Check the ACT/SAT concordance chart to see which of your scores is best. Of course, don’t send in an SAT score that is lower than your ACT in my opinion. Let them guess you are so smart you got a fabulous ACT in one sitting- one and done!
@reppincollege1 Find some space for Colgate, Bucknell and Bates. All three have very good success with medical school acceptance. You should have some LACs on your list.
With a 96 average and a 34 ACT you can reduce the the list. 12 maybe should be enough. I would remove the CUNY schools since you have the SUNY schools. I would take off Albany, UNC, BU and Wash U as well and add some LACs and a school like University of Rochester.
With your stats you have some very high merit chances as well.
Is the 96 weighted? Many of the schools will only look at unweighted (and then consider your rigor and APs as part of the holistic review); weighting is important to make ranking fair, but they’re going to look at the whole transcript. Look at the 25 and 75 percentiles listed for g.p.a. and see where you fall with your unweighted average. Also look at their course requirements, some require 3 years of language or 4 years of math (although it looks like you just left pre-cal off your junior year list).
@higheredrocks woops! Yeah, I took pre calc honors in 11th. And yeah, it’s weighted. I’m actually not sure what my unweighted is. I’ll ask my counselor on Monday
