Help me with decision/ rescinded acceptance.

I was accepted early action at Ga Tech, my first pick, and I have a major issue with a grade I received in my Calc I class at a local college. I am taking classes there while I'm taking classes at my high school. Friday I took my final, worth 50%, and for some reason I did not do good at all even though I thought I did. I ended up making a D in the class, off by .5% from a C, and now I am nervous as heck. I was accepted early action, and I have gotten all A's, including three AP classes, and one 89 up until this year. This year my grades so far look like this.

At local college:
D in Calc I
A in Eng Comp

AT high school:
96 in Honors econ
92 in Engineering Concepts
86 in AP Chem
92 in Honors Comparative political systems
My Gpa is still a 3.96 with these new grades, due to GA tech's policy of adding of .5 to AP and Accel college classes

My greatest fear is for my admission to be rescinded for this mistake on my part, and now I need advice.
Should I retake Calc I at my local college, take AP Calc at my school next semester, which may not be possible, or should I hold off for Ga tech's Calculus.
What I wanted to do is, even before this fiasco, is to take AP calc next semester, because the community college changed the schedule and now Calc II cannot fit in my schedule, but my school will not allow since I get credit for the D. Even though I didn't do well in the class I believe that it prepared me more than AP Calc would have, due to the breadth and speed of the material covered. My issues with retaking the class at the college is a cost issue. Due to a recent move the gas I spent last semester was over 1300 dollars driving back and forth, this paired with books and fees it comes out to around 1600 dollars out of pocket for this class. If I retake the class at the community college next semester I still will not take credit for it because I do not want to jump into calculus II at tech without Calculus I at tech. Therefore, I would have spent 3200 dollars for no credit. This is a daunting amount of money for my me and my family for no credit, therefore I want to know if I can try another option. The only class that I can join for math next semester is Advanced Algebra and Trig, however I talked I talked to the AP calc teacher and he told me I can come to the class without being enrolled in the class. I was wondering if you think this is a good idea or should I try another option.

Contact Georgia Tech admissions and explain the situation. Since this is a college class, it may not matter as far as admission goes.

I have but I haven’t received a response yet and time is running out. The way I see it is if I don’t receive a response in time, I can always take calculus during the summer if that is what must be done to not get rescinded.

Why not retake Calc this spring semester?

Then you need to call them. The phone number is on this page: [Georgia Institute of Technology :: Undergraduate Admission :: Contact Us](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Contact Our Office | Undergraduate Admission)

Colleges don’t take rescinding an acceptance lightly. They know that, in most instances, rescinding an application means that a student will likely have to attend community college for at least a semester, if they are able to attend a post-secondary institution at all. The determining factor is whether there is a pattern of apathy. You are performing well in all of your other classes, so there does not seem to be such a pattern. Talking with admissions is always a good idea, but do so in writing. Find out who your admissions counselor is for your region (available on the admissions website) and send them a letter. Don’t make excuses, and don’t draw things out; just tell them the situation and perhaps explain what you learned from the whole ordeal. This letter will be filed with admissions in your application file, and if, by some ridiculous turn of events, your acceptance comes before the committee to be rescinded, they will see that letter in your file and it will be taken into consideration.

You will certainly need to retake that course once you get here. Calculus I is a relatively easy class here, so you should earn an A without much difficulty.

Thank you so much for your suggestions, I’ll make sure to follow your advice, especially you RmblinReck.
Once again thanks!

@mom2collegekids Its the money issue paired with jumping into Calc II at tech, which from family friends, I hear is not a smart idea.
