Help My College Essay!

I don't know what I should write about. Should I write an essay that shows the aggressive, intense, academic, passionate, determined side of me (this is an essay about how i wrote an article in response to an article i found offensive in my school newspaper)? Or an essay that shows more about my family and its uniqueness, my vegetarianism, and how i am both influenced but also different from my parents? (I don't have one particular story to write about for this one)

do i want to look like a sweet, funny student?

or an intense one?

i am planning to apply to top schools like uchicago, northwestern, brandeis, tufts, tulane, nyu, wesleyan, wash u, etc.

They are looking more for whether or not you write well rather than exactly what you write about. They have read pretty much every conceivable angle many times. There is usually nothing unique. As long as it is coherent, honest and respectful of the process, you will be fine. Use what you feel most comfortable with.

i’m in the same boat as you

as who? me or the person who commented?

As you, of course.

Which topic excites you more? Which one offers more opportunities to reveal yourself to adcoms?
