Hi everyone! This is my first post on CC!

I was hoping I could get your help in finding masters programs in human rights, international development, or a similar degree, where a B.A. in philosophy is a pre-requisite for admission. It need not be the only acceptable undergraduate major, but if possible, philosophy would be specifically cited as one of the degrees a good candidate would possess. Ivy league or well-established universities are preferable, but any school in the US could work. I'd love links to admissions pages if possible, but at least which schools and programs mention this, would be great.

Thank you so much!

Why is it important that philosophy is a pre-requisite for admission?

I doubt that you will find any interdisciplinary programs like human rights or international development for which a specific degree is a prerequisite. The reason is because those degrees 1) usually draw upon several social science and humanities areas, so students from many majors would be successful and 2) usually have several tracks or concentrations, so that students who are interested in different foci can develop those foci within the program. So a sociologist could take a more social science/sociology track, whereas a historian could take that angle in the same program but with different coursework.

And if the degree does what you want it to do, why does it matter whether philosophy was a prerequisite for entry?

If you’re interested in doing a degree on the philosophy of human rights, you may be interested in philosophy departments that have a concentration in that, or at ethics programs.
