I am running into an issue that my child’s GPA is not meeting the cutoff for some jobs. So was wondering what subjects are a quick GPA boosters in the final year of UChicago?
Also, how important is UCIB for the job search process at U Chicago? Does UCIB really help if one is not a business or econ major? Is it better to take easier classes or is it worthwhile taking the UCIB classes and taking a GPA hit?
isnt a little late to be playing Helicopter parent? This “child” is a senior in college.
Its up to him/her to ask these questions -not mommy or daddy.

MurphyBrown,
then you should be a aware that Chicago is KNOWN for grade deflation. But many employers know that. I suggest both of you take a deep breath. And relax.
Kids come out of Chicago well prepared to work, because they have been taught how to to really think!
“Plus it is always good to know what courses are available for terms while taking some difficult advanced course.”
that information is available on the Chicago website.
@MurphyBrown lol op is asking about UCIB so I’m guessing that the jobs referred to are big name consulting or banking jobs where they will only deign to look at you if you have a 3.5+. Most jobs are not like this. If (for example) CS jobs required a 3.5+ (or even a 3.0+), almost no one would get hired.
Not really sure what an UCIB class is – would take a gamble and say it’s a econ major focused class? Easy classes are lower level bio-topics, but it most certainly will be noted in a bad way. Very few students take <20000 level class after first-year (with general physics being a notable example).
