Please help me dealing with purpose questions in detail..

Just try to formulate in your own words what the point of the statement or the passage is, as in why exactly the author even bothered to write that statement. Was it to convey their opinion? Provide an example of a counter-argument? That kind of stuff. Then, see if you can match that up with the answer choices provided. While the words might not be exactly the same as your own, there should be one that matches the general gist of your idea if you didn’t misinterpret the text.

Can you please help me with the tips for the way to understand the passage? How to read the passage? How to prepare myself to answer the questions perfectly? I simply read the passage and jump to the questions…My other problem is that I often cannot find the key points to the answers of the questions like main idea, tone question…

There are a lot of great suggestions in previous posts on this forum. Do a little research and you’ll find some real treasures.

thanks

thanks a lot

Funny, xiggi doesn’t mention Critical Reader… the #1 resource for CR and Write.

???#

^He’s trying to hijack your thread with a persona vendetta against the person who has had the most views in the history of this forum. Nevertheless, in this case he’s pointing out that Erica Meltzer’s THe Critical Reader is an excellent resource for CR including purpose questions, and he’s right.

Thank you chd,
Then you should stop recommending them to read Xiggi because the books xiggi recommends are garbage.
