Help Now!!!!

I just checked the log in and it says

Congratulations -----MY NAME-----!

Your application for admission to Rice has been approved!

To reserve your place in the class, an enrollment deposit of $100.00 is required. If you wish to live on campus, the required housing deposit is $50.

Would you like to decide now?

DOES THIS MEAN I GOT IN???? I/M NOT SURE BECAUSE IT SAYS "APPROVED" NOT ACCEPTED. I DON'T WANT TO GET MY HOPES UP.

Yes, you got in!!! They will send you an email in a few minutes, telling you about your acceptance and about how it could be rescinded if grades drop too low.

really?????? ARE YOU SERIOUS?????? aaaAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

you don't deserve to go to rice if you can't even understand the decision letter

Excuse me, I just wanted to be sure before I jump to any conclusions. "Approved" is not synonymous with "accepted". Also, the decisions were not supposed to be released until tomorrow. I thought they might have set up the homepage and had everything ready to go, and then notify the people tomorrow.

Congratulations! Rice is a great school. :)

LOL the kid who said "you don't deserve to go" sounds a little jealous...

hmmm. don't worry though, i was confused at first too. i didn't want to get my hopes up with the "you're approved!" i was like...*** does that mean? i thought my app was sent like 3 months ago...haha

LOL don't worry about it, when I received my email it said your application has been approved and I went... "huh?" But yes, you've been accepted. Congratulations!

OK, you are all stupid. Read this carefully. Actually, don't even read it carefully because it is pretty darn explanatory even if you just skim through it. "To reserve your place in the class, an enrollment deposit of $100.00 is required. If you wish to live on campus, the required housing deposit is $50." Any person who can score above a 420 on CR would know that this grand statement means acceptance. I mean, seriously, are they going to say that and then after you deposit be like, Just kidding! We want your 100 dollars!? You are all baffoons. Maybe I'm just a little jealous. Being that I'm attending Harvard next year, I guess that I'm just jealous of all you Owls...

By the way, I'm not going to Harvard. But I just did open my admissions decision from Rice. It says, "It is my privilege to inform you that your application for admission to Rice University has been approved. The Committee on Admission invites you to become a member of the Rice Class of 2011." Wait, do you know if I got in? I'm not sure. HELP!!!

It took me a second to realize that approved meant accepted, too.

I guess Rice admitted a stupid class this year.

so..how can I check my decision?

I think we need to give people a break. When they're this excited, it can be a little confusing because it's hard to get past the first word-congratulations. Basically I'm saying the words can get jumbled and they're worried they may be setting themselves up for a letdown.

pbwain, despite your overwhelming urge to feel superior to those around you, there is absolutely no reason to act that way. If that's the way you normally act, I hope you don't come to Rice next year. I don't enjoy dealing with smug pricks.
