I'm stuck deciding between Oberlin, Tufts, and Wesleyan.
I was wondering what everyone's opnion on them was.
Also, I was a friendly college :)

It helps if one states there intended major or undeclared or planning on Liberal Studies until decide where/what feels right. My personal choice of ranking would be
- Tufts
- Wesleyan
- Oberlin.
That would be based upon cost vs. quality of education, professors, facilities, and student body but also how fun/diverse the surrounding area is taken into consideration.

intended major: socioly/language/communication

Hmmm, well for Sociology Wesleyan probably has the traditional edge for that subject but that is more grad level still. For undergrad though, Tufts has the more superior Communications and Media program which is of excellent quality and students seemed very pleased with it overall as well. I’m not sure about language.

I doubt there’s a difference in “friendliness” between the three schools. Oberlin and Wesleyan will be a bit “edgier” in personality, Tufts more mainstream and pre-professional.

Only Tufts offer a Communications degree, and even there only as a minor - be aware.

The biggest difference between the schools lies in location/setting with Tufts offering obviously easy access to Boston. On the up side to Oberlin and Wesleyan is a probably tighter knit, more campus centered undergraduate experience.

Wesleyan

Tufts

Oberlin

We visited Oberlin this summer and I was expecting to be much more impressed. Go with Wesleyan and maybe consider Vassar.

why wesleyan and tufts and not oberlin?

I think all three schools are terrific. Your really will not get a terrible education at any single one. However, they each have very different campus communities. You have to visit them to determine where you feel you would fit in best. Depending on what you are planning to do, any of the schools will teach you more than you can imagine. My D just started at Oberlin and she is loving it. The Professors are very accessible and there is so much to learn inside and outside the classroom. We were very impressed with Oberlin.
BTW we are a long legacy famiily of Wesleyan, so I am not going to offend that school; however, I really do not see a difference in the quality or education of those two schools. I have only heard great things about Tufts. It was not a school D even looked at.

Agree with ahuvah that visits are essential to deciding what fits, but unless you’re applying early decision you could put off the trip until you see where you’re accepted. You won’t go wrong at any of these excellent schools. Wesleyan is probably a bit more intellectual than the others, Oberlin a bit more artsy and Tufts a bit more pre-professional. But a great student could thrive at any of them. Good luck.

ughhh i have no idea >.<
