Help on reporting AP Scores?

Okay, so I'm filling out the common app and am confused about reporting AP scores.

On the common app it says that you can self-report scores in addition to officially sending them. What is the difference?

Also, am I even required to send in my AP scores? I looked up a few discussions and I read somewhere that AP scores are not required to submit on common app, and that they are only necessary to send to the school you decide to attend once accepted (so they can decide whether to give you credit or not). So should I not self-report/submit my AP scores at all?

Finally, If I don't want to send one of my AP scores, does CollegeBoard require me to send all of them when I submit them officially? It is too late for me to withhold my score. If they do require to submit all scores, should I self-report them instead so that I can pick which ones to report?

Thanks so much for your help!

First question: Self-reporting is just writing your scores on your CommonApp, officially sending them is paying College Board a fee to send an official AP Score Report.
Second question: Unless your college explicitly asks for the scores, which is pretty rare, then no.
Third question: If you have strong AP scores, then why not self-report them?
Fourth question: Yes, you are required to send all of them in your score report. I believe that there is a fee you can pay to withhold scores. Look into that on their website.
Fifth question: Self-reporting is a better idea in general because it’s free and AP scores are not typically a huge part of the admissions process anyway. In that case, yes, you would be able to pick which ones to report.

Okay I understand a lot more now! Thanks so much for your help!
