James Madison (JMU) doesn’t have their accreditation yet, although it is expected soon. Their program is fairly new and is a general engineering program. You can focus on ‘concentrations’, but you’re not going to get a chemical engineering degree. There’s nothing wrong with a degree in general engineering, but that’s not what the OP is looking for.

I would also add University of Oklahoma (they supposedly have a very good engineering school with a growing reputation) and Colorado School of Mines–it’s a tad bit smaller than you want, but it’s got the Greek life you’re looking for and would probably make a good safety.

Gettinin, my point was the being in the top 7 percent does not mean one is automatically admitted at the engineering school. You have to mark the major on the general application. The EHP requires an additional application.

OK, so we are on the same page.
The bottom line is: UT Austin is going to be a huge reach for this kid.

“Sounds like somebody’s application was a joke at Penn:-)”

Didn’t apply. Good try though. ;)

I did end up getting a 33 on my act.
