Hey Everyone,
I am in desperate need of assistance as I would like to pursue an online MA degree in either film studies (media) or English beginning in January 2009… I realize that this is somewhat short notice but I would be most appreciative for any advice on different programs… I am looking for an accredited institution as I would like to pursue my PhD in the future… The main criteria that I am looking for is something that is not too expensive and fairly reputable… My first love is film but I realize that there are more jobs at the community college level for English professors so I am trying to keep my options open… Can someone please offer me some help regarding online MA in Film or English…
Eagerly awaiting your replies and thanks in advance…

thanks for the information as I really appreciate it and I am looking forward to input from members of this forum…
I am leaning towards the MA in English from National University but was wondering if anyone can share some insights regarding the program… thanks in advance
Northwestern State University of Louisiana recently began teaching a [Master</a> of Arts in English](<a href=“http://www.nsula.edu/ece/degreeprogs/ENGLMast.asp]Master”>http://www.nsula.edu/ece/degreeprogs/ENGLMast.asp) online. [url=<a href=“http://www.nsula.edu/ece/fees.asp]Tuition[/url”>http://www.nsula.edu/ece/fees.asp]Tuition[/url</a>] ranks among the most reasonable anywhere in the USA.
thanks and please keep the suggestions coming as I really want to have some choices… the good thing about National is the one course per month idea which I think should help me finish quickly…
I did send Northwestern State an email a few days ago and will try to post any info that I receive… Are they any programs featuring a one year MA in Film ??
Hey Terry,
Thanks for your reply… I would love to study at MA or even a PhD in Film Studies but the problem is that there are not many job available teaching film that will be available to me upon graduation. While it is always good to follow your passion, one also has to remain practical and I do not want to put in the time and effort not to mention the money towards something that will be uneventful. As much as I love studying film, the sad truth is that there are just not enough jobs available and I cannot afford to take too many risks at this stage of my life. Once again, thanks for your input and I am hopeful that things will work out though it has been a struggle…
I found this thread because the discussion topic was of interest to me. A few years back I lost a good part of retirement savings and decided to prepare to work work later into life. I thought that I could get my Masters in English so I could teach either on-line courses or teach community college kids to earn some money. In the meantime I have discovered that I might have been made for this work. I did the course work online using [Online</a> Master’s in Education - Dominican University Online](<a href=“dominicanu.com - This website is for sale! - dominicanu Resources and Information.”>http://www.dominicanu.com/). Now that worked for me, but there are really many many colleges that offer the exact same course with the same exact instructors as the students in the class get. Just make sure to use a real school and not a fake one.
