I just want to get some opinions about all the options out there, especially for my situation...

I'm a graduated high school student and I'm taking a gap year before college to study in germany on a scholarship through YFU. I wanted to take AP classes to prep for college, and also to kind of keep my head straight through the confusion of learning a foreign language. My german classes don't count as credit for me, and grades are based on participation and test scores. Homework is rarely given, so I'm going to have plenty of free time.

I was wondering who took online AP classes and the exams as well. Who was your provider? How was your experience with them? Did you get a lot out of them? How well do you feel they prepared for the exam? About what was the cost of the course (not counting text books)? Please go into detail about what you liked, didn't like, and your experience overall.

While I can make deadlines easily, it would be great to have a flexible instructor because of the time difference and getting used to my new country. =)

In case it helps, I'm looking to take any of these classes:
-Art history
-Euro history
-World history
-Macro Econ (not so sure about this one)
-Psychology

Florida Virtual School has macro and art history. I can’t speak for art history, but I took both macro and micro with them and got fives. I highy recommend it.

I am taking Micro on FLVS and I’d reccomend it. The teachers are all really friendly and helpful. I don’t know how much it costs if you live out of state, but I don’t think there is a charge for textbooks since a lot of the classes use ebooks.

I second Microeconomics and Macroeconomics on FLVS. The teachers are very friendly, easy graders, and the content is presented clearly. I was very successful on the AP exams.

D took FLVS AP Art History last year. She seemed to like it and had a very helpful teacher (Smith). FLVS + 2 review books (Barron’s and REA) resulted in a 5 on the exam

^^ You get a number grade and associated letter grade and can have an FLVS transcript sent to your school. The course is ten sections for both semesters. Each covers one or more art periods. Graded are based on quizes, short essays, long essays, a"virtual museum" project, and final exams. There are also low-stress oral quizes given by your teacher over the phone. There are also opportunities for extra credit. FLVS offers a free AP review at the end of the course. We do not live in Florida and paid full tuition. Money well spent.
